Should I use simple average or credit-weighted method?

Do all 8 semesters count equally toward CGPA?

Only if every semester carries the same number of credits. In most B.Tech programs the credit load varies — a project-heavy final semester might carry 16 credits, while a course-heavy mid-degree semester might carry 26. Under the credit-weighted method, the heavier semesters pull the CGPA more strongly toward their SGPA. Under the simple-average method, every semester counts equally regardless of credits — this can be misleading if the credit loads are uneven.

How do I convert CGPA to percentage?

Every engineering programme — B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech — reports CGPA on the 10-point scale, updated after each semester result. This calculator takes one row per semester and combines them into a single CGPA using either equal weighting or credit-weighted aggregation.

The two formulas

Simple average — every semester counts equally:

Credit-weighted — each semester contributes in proportion to its credit load:
