JEE Main Rank Predictor

The NTA percentile (also called NTA Score) is a normalized score from 0 to 100 that indicates the percentage of candidates in your session who scored at or below you — a 99.5 percentile means you scored higher than 99.5% of all candidates in your session. It is NOT a percentage of marks. The All India Rank (AIR) is the actual ordinal position in the final merit list across both sessions (Best of Two), computed after combining session-1 and session-2 results. Percentile is published per session; AIR is published once, after the April session result. Percentile is the input to JEE Advanced eligibility (top 2,50,000), and AIR drives JoSAA / CSAB counselling for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

JEE Advanced eligibility is restricted to the top 2,50,000 candidates from JEE Main (across all categories combined, with category-wise sub-quotas). The percentile cutoff varies by category — JEE Main 2024 reference: General 93.2362181, EWS 81.32, OBC-NCL 79.67, SC 60.09, ST 46.69, PwD 0.0018403. Note these are percentiles, not marks. The cutoff typically shifts by ±1-2 percentile points year-to-year depending on candidate pool size and paper difficulty. For 2026, the same rough budget applies — General candidates need ~93+ percentile, OBC ~80+, SC ~60+, ST ~47+. JEE Advanced gates IIT admission; falling below the cutoff still keeps NIT / IIIT / GFTI options open via JoSAA counselling.

NIT Trichy (Tiruchirappalli) Computer Science is among the top-3 NIT-CSE programs in the country, alongside NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal. The closing AIR for Open category, Other-State Quota in JoSAA round 6 for NIT Trichy CSE typically falls in the 1,000–1,500 range — roughly the top 0.1% of the JEE Main pool. Home-state quota cutoffs are higher (around 200-500 AIR for Tamil Nadu residents). Reserved categories get significant headroom: OBC-NCL CSE closes around AIR 2,500-3,500, SC around AIR 8,000-12,000, ST around AIR 15,000-25,000 (numbers vary by round). For CSE specifically you generally need ≥99.5 percentile in JEE Main (Open). Other branches at NIT Trichy close at much higher AIR — electronics ~3,000, mechanical ~5,000, civil ~8,000 (Open category).

JEE Main is held in two sessions per year — January and April. A candidate may sit either or both. NTA computes the NTA Score (percentile) separately for each session, and the higher of the two percentiles is used for the final ranking. The "Best of Two" rule means a poor January performance is not penalising — students often use Session 1 as a calibration attempt and improve in Session 2. The percentile is per-subject and overall: subject-wise percentiles (Maths, Physics, Chemistry) are also used for tie-breaking (Maths first, then Physics, then Chemistry, then the candidate's overall percentile, then the older candidate ranks higher). Final AIR is computed once after Session 2 by merging the better of each candidate's two session percentiles into a single merit list.
